93.3 Percent of Train Tickets for 11 March-1 April Sold
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI has sold 4,195,627 tickets for the Lebaran transport period for departures from 11 March to 1 April 2026. This figure represents 93.3 percent of the total 4,498,696 train tickets sold.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba stated that travel has continued to increase since mid-March through to the Lebaran Idul Fitri return flow. “The public is utilising train services because they are more comfortable and scheduled,” said Anne in a written statement on Tuesday, 24 March 2026.
Long-distance train services have sold 3,616,273 tickets, or 101.2 percent of the total 3,571,760 seats provided. Meanwhile, local train tickets have sold 579,354 tickets, or 62.5 percent of the total 926,936 seats.
Anne explained that there are still seats available for local trains, particularly because passenger travel patterns do not always cover the full route from the starting station to the end. Booking for this service is also a minimum of 7 days before departure.
According to KAI’s recap, the total long-distance train passengers served from 11-23 March 2026 numbered 2,378,680 people, while local trains served 441,494 people. These figures cover passengers in the Java and Sumatra regions.
“This achievement shows the public’s mobility continuing to increase day by day,” said Anne Purba.
Anne clarified that occupancy rates above 100 percent can occur due to dynamic customer travel patterns within a single train consist. Thus, one seat can be used by different passengers with varied routes.
So far, KAI has recorded the highest ticket sales during the 2026 Lebaran transport on KA Airlangga, KA Joglosemarkerto, KA Sri Tanjung, KA Bengawan, KA Kahuripan, KA Rajabasa, and KA Jayakarta.
