927 Inmates at Bekasi Prison Receive Eid al-Fitr Remission for 1447 H, 8 Immediately Freed
Bekasi - A total of 927 inmates at the Class IIA Bekasi Prison in Bekasi Timur Subdistrict, Bekasi City, have received Special Remission (RK) for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. The prison head, Dedy Cahyadi, stated that the current prison population stands at 1,421 individuals, comprising 1,151 convicts and 270 detainees. The majority are Muslim, with 1,092 convicts and 253 detainees. Of the 927 inmates, 916 received RK I and 11 received RK II. Moreover, eight inmates were immediately released following the remission. “We hope this serves as motivation for them to continue behaving well and return to society as better individuals,” said Dedy when contacted on Sunday (22/3/2026). He stressed that the remission process is conducted transparently in accordance with applicable regulations, while considering aspects of justice and rehabilitation objectives. In addition, the Class IIA Bekasi Prison has opened family visitation services for inmates during the 2026 Lebaran period. Various preparations have been made to ensure optimal service delivery. “We have prepared the visitation services meticulously,” Dedy revealed. Dedy hopes that the visitation services during Lebaran will bring happiness to the inmates and serve as encouragement in serving their sentences. “Of course, this moment is important for strengthening humanitarian values and supporting the rehabilitation process in the correctional environment,” Dedy concluded.
