92 per cent of Indonesian knowledge workers use AI
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria stated that 92 per cent of knowledge-based workers in Indonesia have used generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology in their daily work. “Based on the 2024 Work Trend Index published by Microsoft and LinkedIn, 92 per cent of knowledge workers in Indonesia have used generative AI in their daily work,” Nezar said at the Garuda AI Impact Summit 2026 in Jakarta on Thursday. According to him, this figure is even above the global average and shows that Indonesia is no longer merely a spectator in the development of AI technology on the world stage. “AI that was once expensive can now be accessed by anyone,” he said. Nezar said the high utilisation of AI in Indonesia indicates that the technology has moved from the experimental stage towards wider use in social and economic life. In addition, as many as 88 per cent of organisations have also adopted AI in various operational activities. Nevertheless, Nezar cautioned that the high rate of AI adoption needs to be balanced with efforts to equalise access and improve the community’s ability to use the technology productively. “The future divide will no longer just be between those who are connected and those who are not, but between those who are able to use AI productively and those who are left behind by this transformation,” he said. Nezar added that the government continues to encourage the development of digital talent and AI literacy so that the benefits of the technology can be widely felt by all levels of society.
