92 Palestinian Prisoners Reported Dead Since 1967

The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) has released the latest data regarding the number of detainees who have died within the prisons of the Israeli occupying authorities. Since the beginning of the genocide escalation, the number of detainees whose identities have been confirmed dead has reached 92.

Of this total, 53 detainees originate from the Gaza Strip. One of the identities recently confirmed is Moataz Al-Atrash, a detainee from Hebron.

In an official statement released on Thursday (17/9), the PPS revealed that the deaths of these detainees were not without cause. They died as a result of a series of systematic crimes and gross human rights violations committed by the prison authorities.

The PPS detailed a number of cruel actions experienced by detainees that led to the loss of life.

In addition to the confirmed data, the PPS provided serious notes regarding the fate of other detainees from Gaza. To date, many detainees are still declared missing due to the practice of enforced disappearances. Based on testimonies and field data collected, there are strong indications that dozens of other detainees have fallen victim to direct field executions by occupying forces.

The death of 92 detainees since the start of this genocide adds to the long list of fatalities behind bars since 1967. Below is a summary of the data based on the PPS report:

To date, the Israeli occupying authorities are reported to still be holding the bodies of 100 deceased detainees, 89 of whom died since the start of the most recent genocide period. The practice of detaining bodies is considered an additional form of punishment against the families of the victims and a violation of international law.
