Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Social Affairs has ensured that the regular social assistance for the first quarter has been disbursed and realised at 90 per cent of the total 18 million beneficiary families, including similar assistance for 1.7 million disaster survivors in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, in a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday evening, said that the regular social assistance included assistance from the Family Hope Programme (PKH) and food assistance or Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT), which in the first quarter of this year amounted to IDR 20 trillion for 18 million beneficiary families.

During the same distribution period, the Ministry of Social Affairs disbursed IDR 1.8 trillion for regular PKH and food assistance for 1.7 million beneficiaries who are also disaster survivors in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

In addition to regular social assistance, Saifullah explained that the Ministry of Social Affairs also distributed adaptive or disaster social assistance in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, including logistical assistance and public kitchens, compensation for victims of death and injury, living guarantees, and economic recovery assistance for communities affected by the disaster.

During the first phase of distribution, which was carried out by the Ministry of Social Affairs, the value of the assistance was IDR 632.8 billion up to the second decade of February for the three provinces.

For living guarantees aimed at 175,211 beneficiaries at a value of IDR 450,000 per person for three months, the value is IDR 238 billion. This assistance has been distributed through PT Pos Indonesia and transferred to recipient accounts through Bank Syariah Indonesia or other state-owned banks.

Furthermore, house filling assistance has been distributed to 47,000 beneficiary families with a value of more than IDR 143 billion. Each family receives house filling assistance of IDR 3 million. This assistance is provided to refugees who occupy temporary housing, permanent housing, or independently displaced with a rental system.

The government also provides socio-economic stimulus assistance through the Ministry of Social Affairs. The target beneficiaries are 47,000 families, with a total assistance value of IDR 238 billion, or IDR 5 million per household.
