90-Metre Bailey Bridge Installed, Opening Access to People's School in Brebes
The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is accelerating the installation of a 90-metre Bailey bridge in Walahar Village, Larangan Subdistrict, Brebes Regency, Central Java, to support access for the construction of Phase II of the People’s School (SR). This work follows directives from Minister of PU Dody Hanggodo to expedite infrastructure support for SR development. The implementation involves collaboration between the Central Java–Special Region of Yogyakarta Main Road Implementation Centre (BBPJN) and the Directorate General of Strategic Infrastructure. Minister Dody Hanggodo stated that road and bridge connectivity plays a crucial role in supporting community activities and the development of basic services, including the education sector. “We will exert every effort to ensure the construction of SR for our children is completed on time, with the right quality, and at the right cost,” Dody said on Thursday (30/4/2026). SR Phase II in Brebes Regency is part of the government’s priority programme to expand access to education for children from low-income families. The school is targeted to be operational for the new academic year in 2026. To support this target, the Bailey bridge installation began on 27 April 2026. As of now, progress shows that the pouring of abutment 2 has reached 100 per cent, while abutment 1 has reached 75 per cent and is targeted to be completed soon. Additionally, the assembly process for piling equipment is underway. Technically, the installed Bailey bridge is 90 metres long, 4 metres wide, and has a load capacity of up to 25 tonnes. This temporary infrastructure is designed to support vehicle mobility and material distribution during the construction process. The Ministry of PU hopes that the Bailey bridge installation will smooth access to the SR construction site, allowing the construction process to be completed according to target. The Ministry of PU also reaffirms its commitment to continue supporting priority infrastructure development through synergy among work units and all stakeholders so that the benefits of development can be felt by the community as soon as possible.
