90 Houses in Rumpin, Bogor Damaged by Strong Winds
Antara reported on Monday, 25 May 2026, that Bogor Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Head of Emergency and Logistics M. Adam Hamdani stated heavy rain and strong winds struck Rumpin on Sunday, 24 May, around 2.30pm local time. ‘Intense rainfall and strong winds caused damage to several residents’ homes, particularly roofs and tiles,’ Hamdani said. He explained the affected homes were in Kampung Parakanomas RT 01, 02, and 03, RW 01, Tamansari Village. Of the 90 damaged houses, seven were moderately damaged and 83 slightly. BPBD noted moderate damage included collapsed walls and roofs blown away, while minor damage mainly involved roofing materials scattered by the winds. Two families, totalling 10 people, were forced to evacuate to relatives’ homes due to severe roof damage. No casualties or injuries were reported, though some residents began repairing their homes independently. BPBD deployed its Rapid Response Team (TRC) to assess the situation, coordinate with local authorities, and provide disaster education. They also distributed tarpaulins to affected households for temporary shelter. The agency urged residents to remain vigilant against potential extreme weather, which could cause further structural damage or fallen trees. Current conditions at the site are stabilising, with many homes undergoing temporary repairs to remain habitable.
