Throughout the first half of 2026, pet delivery services using rail transport via KAI Logistik (Kalog) reached a volume of 90,321 animals. This figure represents a 21% increase compared to the same period in 2025, which saw 74,637 animals. This achievement demonstrates the company’s commitment to providing logistics services that align with growing societal needs.

This growth also reflects increasing public trust in pet delivery services that prioritise safety, comfort, and animal welfare. Furthermore, the increase serves as an indicator of the expanding pet ownership ecosystem in Indonesia, which has become a lifestyle choice and provides emotional benefits to the community. According to a 2026 JakPat survey, 52% of Indonesians own pets, while 26% expressed interest in doing so. The survey also revealed that 63% of respondents keep pets to help reduce stress and improve mood, confirming that pets are now viewed as family members (pet humanisation) rather than mere companions.

This trend is driving the growth of the pet care industry in Indonesia, which is projected to continue rising alongside the development of digital channels, increased purchasing power, and broader access to various pet products and services.

Aniek Dwi Deviyanti, Director of Development at Kalog, explained that the growth of this service shows how logistics now plays a role beyond distributing goods, also supporting social activities and the quality of life of the community. “Therefore, the need for pet mobility is increasing, whether for relocation, adoption, healthcare, or travelling with owners. We are here to meet that need through delivery services that prioritise security, comfort, and animal welfare during the shipping process,” she stated.

Aniek noted that the company implements animal handling procedures based on welfare standards, including the use of appropriate cages, the provision of sufficient food and water, and officer supervision during the transport process. This approach is part of the company’s commitment to maintaining service quality and ensuring every pet arrives at its destination in good condition.

According to Aniek, the growth in pet delivery services demonstrates the expanding role of logistics in supporting various community activities. Beyond facilitating the distribution of goods and trade, logistics now serves as a link for the mobility of families, pet lover communities, pet shop operators, breeders, veterinary clinics, and animal rescue organisations across various regions.

With a continuously expanding service network, the company aims to provide logistics solutions that reach community needs more inclusively. Aligned with ongoing service transformations, the company is optimistic that pet delivery services will continue to grow alongside increasing public awareness of animal welfare and the development of the national pet care industry. “In the future, we will continue to refine services to remain relevant to customer needs, particularly for pet lovers,” she added.

KAI Logistik continues to strengthen its role in driving the community economy, having expanded to 264 partnership points across Java, Bali, and South Sumatra. KAI Logistik successfully recorded a performance of approximately 8.7 million tonnes of freight managed during the first half of 2026.
