9-Year-Old Girl in Bekasi Struck by Stray Bullet, Police Investigate
A nine-year-old girl with the initial A was struck by a stray bullet while playing with her friends in Lubang Buaya Village, Setu, Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Sunday (5/7). Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
“The victim was playing with her friends when she suddenly felt something hit her chest and it was painful,” said Setu Police Chief AKP Usep Aramsyah when contacted on Tuesday (7/7).
Upon seeing this, the victim’s friends immediately shouted for help. Local residents then took the victim to a clinic before she was referred to a hospital.
“The victim is currently still undergoing recovery at Fatmawati Hospital in Jakarta and her condition is stable,” Usep stated.
Usep said his team is still investigating the stray bullet incident. He noted that officers have conducted a crime scene investigation and taken statements from witnesses.
“The investigation is still in process; we are currently interrogating and taking statements from witnesses who were around the crime scene,” he said.
Furthermore, Usep mentioned that the police have seized evidence in the form of one projectile that hit the victim.
“The evidence is suspected to be one air rifle projectile,” he said.
