9-Year-Old Dies After Swimming in Saguling Reservoir

A nine-year-old girl, identified by the initials TD, was found dead after drowning in the Ciduging River, part of the Saguling Reservoir, in Kampung Ciceurik, Cangkorah Village, Batujajar District, West Bandung Regency, West Java, on Monday (31/8/2026) at around 2.30 p.m. Western Indonesia Time.

“That is correct, a young girl was found dead after drowning in the Ciduging River, which is still part of the Saguling Reservoir, this afternoon,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Cimahi Police, First Inspector Gofur Supangkat, when confirmed.

The incident began when the victim was swimming at the location with two friends. At that time, a local resident had actually warned them against playing in the Saguling Reservoir. However, they continued swimming.

“The witness was looking for snails around the location and had warned the victim and her friends. However, the victim and her two friends ignored the witness’s warning and prohibition,” Gofur explained.
