9 Railway Crossings in Bogor Without Gates, Most in Parung Panjang

The Bogor Regency Transportation Agency (Dishub) has recorded nine railway crossings without gates in its jurisdiction. The highest number are in the Parung Panjang and Cigombong areas.

“Crossings without gates, in our case, are those on county roads. Because there are national roads, county roads, neighbourhood roads, and provincial roads. For those on county roads, there are a total of 13, of which nine do not have gates,” said Herdi Sukriadi, Head of the Transportation Network Section at the Bogor Regency Transportation Agency, to reporters on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

Herdi stated that the railway crossings in Bogor Regency are spread across four routes, namely the Bogor-Jakarta route, Bogor-Sukabumi route, Parung Panjang-Rangkas Bitung route, and Citayem-Nambo route. Among all of them, the level crossings without gates are most numerous in Parung Panjang and Cigombong.

“We have four routes, (namely) Parung Panjang-Rangkas Bitung, then the Bogor-Jakarta route, the Bogor-Sukabumi route, and the Nambo-Citayem route. Yes, most of those without gates are in Parung Panjang. There will be details later, and they are also in Cigombong,” said Herdi.

“On average, the majority are public access, county roads. For national roads, (the data) goes to BTP at most, for provincial roads to the Province at Dishub Bandung,” he added.

Herdi said that the level crossings without gates spread across Bogor Regency are located on busy routes. Especially during rush hours, namely in the morning and evening.

“In our case, most are normal, not too crowded. But there are some points that are the busiest in (Village) Kabasiran, and in Parung Panjang in the morning. Mostly in Parung Panjang that are somewhat crowded, and here in Bojonggede in the morning, because there is access to the station too,” he stated.

Herdi mentioned that his side has proposed relocating three level crossings. Including the level crossing in Tenjo, Cigombong, and Batutulis. To anticipate accidents, his side has also installed gates and other safety equipment at several points.

“We are proposing the relocation of gates that have been upgraded. For example in Tenjo, the Tenjo Flyover has already been built, so we are processing the relocation request to the ministry. Similarly, the one in Maseng will be moved to Cigombong, and in Batutulis. So there are three relocations, but this is awaiting a decision from the centre,” he concluded.
