9 Indonesian Global Sumud Flotilla Volunteers Detained by Israel Arrive in Indonesia

Detikcom reports that on Sunday, 24 May 2026, the nine volunteers exited Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang at approximately 4:25 PM WIB. They were seen wearing keffiyehs, the traditional Palestinian scarves. Family members greeted their arrival with banners and Palestinian flags, cheering as they emerged from the terminal building.

The detention of the nine Indonesian citizens began when Israeli forces intercepted humanitarian aid ships from the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) on Monday, 18 May. The gradual interception of GSF vessels led to the arrest of several volunteers. All GSF volunteers, including the nine Indonesians, were released on Thursday, 21 May local time and initially flown to Turkey on a chartered aircraft provided by authorities.

Several Indonesian detainees reported inhumane treatment, including physical violence such as beatings and electric shocks. The list of the nine Indonesians detained by Israeli forces, according to GPCI reports, is as follows:
