Jakarta — A total of 854 combined personnel will provide security at Ragunan Zoo, South Jakarta, during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period to ensure the comfort and safety of visitors.

“Security and service on the ground are our top priorities, with the deployment of 854 personnel,” said Endah Rumiyati, Head of the Ragunan Zoo Management Unit, when contacted in Jakarta on Friday.

She stated that the human resources comprise 105 civil servants, 37 part-time first aid officers, 542 contracted individual service providers, and 170 temporary additional staff.

The deployment will be further strengthened through intensive coordination with the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), and other relevant agencies to ensure the tourist location remains secure and orderly.

“It is hoped that the presence of security personnel will increase visitors’ sense of safety,” said Endah.

Additionally, as an educational attraction, visitors will be treated to keeper talk discussions and animal feeding sessions (feeding time) held daily from 22–29 March 2026.

“This programme involves various iconic animals, such as orang-utans, Komodo dragons, Sumatran elephants, giraffes, Bengal tigers, pelicans, and saltwater crocodiles,” explained Endah.

Meanwhile, Ragunan Zoo management has provided 27 parking points to anticipate the surge in visitors during the 1447 Hijri Eid al-Fitr holiday.

Approximately 400,000 visitors are projected to visit the zoo during the Eid al-Fitr period from 22–29 March 2026.

This figure reflects the management’s optimism based on 2025 historical data, when the total number of visitors during the 14-day Eid al-Fitr holiday period reached 610,416 people, or an average of approximately 43,000 visitors per day.

In accordance with the Jakarta Governor’s Regulation (Pergub) Number 63 of 2018 regarding the optimisation of activities and handling of visitors at tourist sites on certain days, visitor operations will begin on the second day of Eid al-Fitr (H+1), whilst on the first day of Eid, the tourist area will be closed to the public.
