85,000 Vehicles Pass Through Ajibarang, a Crucial Crossing Point for Eid Travellers
The Eid al-Fitr 2026 or 1447 Hijriah homecoming traffic flow in the Ajibarang area, Banyumas, Central Java, was monitored as busy but still smooth. Data from the Ajibarang Security Post during Operation Ketupat Candi 2026 recorded 85,258 vehicles passing from the direction of Jakarta or vice versa throughout Thursday (19/3), from 00.00 to 23.59 WIB.
Banyumas Police Chief Kombes Petrus P Silalahi stated that Ajibarang is one of the crucial crossing points for homecoming travellers because it is located at the junction connecting the central and southern routes of Central Java. To support smooth travel, his team has prepared various facilities at the local security post.
A range of services are provided for travellers, from rest areas and prayer rooms, massage chairs to reduce fatigue, to free drinks for breaking the fast. In addition, there are health services with medical personnel on standby 24 hours, lactation rooms, and portable toilets.
Banyumas Police are also collaborating with several parties to provide additional services, such as mobile fuel for vehicles that run out of fuel, rescue teams, tyre repair and 24-hour workshops, mobile medical services, and vehicle storage facilities at the police office.
“Travellers are welcome to utilise the facilities we have prepared. This is part of our efforts to provide a sense of safety and comfort during the journey,” said the Police Chief on Friday (20/3).
He also advised the public not to force themselves to drive when tired. Travellers are asked to rest immediately at the nearest security post to maintain safety.
Several travellers admitted to being helped by the available facilities. One traveller from Jakarta heading to Kebumen said they took a break and used the massage chairs and health services before continuing their journey.
A similar experience was felt by another traveller who ran out of fuel on the way to Cilacap. They appreciated the quick response from officers who provided fuel on site.
“We hope that the homecoming flow in the Banyumas area can proceed smoothly while minimising the potential for accidents during the Eid period,” he added.
