83,980 Legal Aid Posts Established, This Is the Ministry of Law and HAM's Move

Pangkalpinang (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia has formed 83,980 Legal Aid Posts (Posbankum) in villages and urban wards across Indonesia to widen access to justice for all segments of society.

‘The achievement of forming these Posbankum is equal to the Merah Putih Cooperative at 83,980 and this is history because it has never happened before,’ said the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, Supratman Andi Agtas in Pangkalpinang, on Wednesday night.

He stated that although the formation of Posbankum has been carried out massively, the sustainability of the service must be maintained so that it truly benefits the community.

According to Supratman, the trained personnel, including paralegals and mediators such as village heads and lurahs, are expected to utilise Posbankum as a service platform and a form of public service to the community.

‘Posbankum must be utilised as much as possible as a mediation facility and, if it cannot be resolved amicably at Posbankum, the appointment of advocates,’ he said.

Supratman emphasised that the government under President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto is committed to expanding access to justice for all citizens.

In its implementation, the Ministry conducts monitoring of Posbankum services through an integrated digital system across regional offices.

‘Now we can monitor how many cases Posbankum handles. The system will record in which urban ward, what it handles, who resolves it, and this becomes the basis for documentation of Posbankum services,’ he added.
