Jakarta (ANTARA) - The 81st anniversary of Post and Telecommunications (Postel) Day in Bandung, West Java, served as an occasion to honour post and telecommunications veterans through the presentation of financial grants, handed directly by the Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, Angga Raka Prabowo.

According to a ministry press release received in Jakarta on Monday, the provision of these grants reaffirms the commitment to recognising the hard work and dedication of predecessors, particularly those inheriting the spirit of the Young PTT Heroes (AMPTT).

The grants were presented during the peak of the 81st Postel Day celebrations held at the PT Pos Indonesia Headquarters in Bandung on Sunday (27/9), to veterans of the postal and telecommunications sectors who were invited to the annual celebration.

Carrying the theme “Digital Connectivity for a Sovereign Indonesia”, the 81st Postel Day commemoration served as a reflection on the importance of equitable internet access as the backbone of the national economy.

The General Chairman of the Telecommunications Tower Infrastructure Provider Association (ASPIMTEL), Theodorus Ardi Hartoko, noted that the theme of the 81st Postel Day holds profound meaning, as digital connectivity is the primary foundation for the growth of Indonesia’s digital and creative economies.

“We are very committed to organising this connectivity on a wide scale, so that the benefits are received by the wider community. We are certainly adopting technology to ensure that this digital connectivity remains integrated, independent, and competitive,” said Theodorus.

He stated that telecommunications infrastructure industry players are acutely aware that digital inclusivity is currently highly anticipated by the public across the board. The maturity of digital infrastructure is believed to be capable of significantly boosting the Indonesian economy.

The vision of digital sovereignty remains the primary driver being promoted within the post and telecommunications industry, particularly under the direction of the Ministry of Communication and Digital.

“We, along with the entire digital ecosystem in Indonesia—including operators, associations, and the community—are synergising with regulators and technology partners. The goal is to channel all this progress towards the advancement of the Indonesian nation,” added Theodorus.
