81st Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony to be Centred in Jakarta, Not Nusantara
State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has confirmed that the commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia will be centred in Jakarta, while the concept for its implementation is still being finalised by the government. At the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/7), Prasetyo stated that the government has held several coordination meetings to prepare the state ceremony and its supporting series of events. According to him, the government is still preparing a number of implementation concepts, including several elements to be announced later. “(Regarding the concept) please be patient and wait, let there be an ‘element of surprise’,” he said. Prasetyo added that preparations for the 81st Independence Day commemoration also include the determination of the official logo, which this year involves public participation in the selection process. Beyond the state ceremony, the government is developing a celebration concept that allows for broader public involvement and is not solely centred on activities within the Palace grounds. The government is also evaluating the pattern of involving micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) so that participation opportunities are not only given to certain fostered groups but can reach more MSME players evenly. Regarding the number of citizens to be invited to participate in the celebrations at the Palace, Prasetyo said the government is still calculating and adjusting this to the final concept for the 81st Independence Day event.
