81st Independence Day Parade Concludes, Roads Around Monas Reopened

A number of roads around the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta have been reopened to vehicles following the parade held in celebration of the 81st anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

Based on observations at the scene, from 11.45 WIB, vehicles began to pass again along several roads that had previously been closed to support the smooth running of the parade.

A number of police officers were seen managing traffic flow at the Thamrin fountain roundabout, Patung Kuda.

Sections of Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jalan Budi Kemuliaan and Jalan MH Thamrin could once again be used by vehicles, including Transjakarta buses.

Officers were still visible on guard at several points to manage traffic flow and ensure vehicles could pass in an orderly manner.

The reopening of these roads allowed traffic activity around the Monas area to gradually return to normal after the parade sequence was completed.

Previously, several roads in the area around Patung Kuda had been closed since 08.00 WIB to hold the Heritage Flag Parade sequence.

Before the ceremony began, the Heritage Flag and the Proclamation Manuscript had arrived after being paraded from the National Monument to the Merdeka Palace in the Garuda Prabayaksa Golden Carriage, carried by the 2025 Purna-Paskibraka Duta Pancasila.

The parade to the Merdeka Palace was part of the implementation of the Commemoration Ceremony of the Seconds of the Proclamation of the 81st Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, themed ‘Indonesia Berdaulat, Adil, dan Makmur’ (Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia).
