81 firefighters extinguish blaze in Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta

A total of 81 firefighters were deployed to tackle a blaze at a residential house on Jalan Hidup Baru, RT 09/RW 06, Gandaria Utara, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

“Twenty fire engines with 81 personnel were deployed to handle the incident,” said Asril Rizal, Head of Operations at the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service, in Jakarta on Saturday (22/8).

The fire was reported at 5.47pm Western Indonesia Time. Personnel from the Kramat Pela post, along with other units, arrived at the scene at 5.50pm and began firefighting operations two minutes later.

At the time of the incident, local residents who noticed the fire immediately attempted to extinguish it themselves while contacting the fire service.

Officers then carried out operations at the site, which is located in a densely populated area.

“The fire was successfully contained at 6.15pm. Cooling operations began at 6.26pm to ensure there were no remaining hotspots that could potentially reignite the blaze,” he said.

The firefighting operation was declared complete at 6.58pm with a green status, indicating that the fire had been fully extinguished.

The affected object was a residential house classified as a low-rise building.

Based on preliminary findings by officers, the suspected cause of the fire was an electrical fault.

Until the operation was declared complete, officers reported no obstacles during the firefighting process.

The response took into account the fairly dense surrounding environment, allowing the fire to be quickly contained and prevented from spreading to neighbouring buildings.
