80th Birthday Parade of Sultan HB X Concludes, Gifts Returned to the Community

The Kirab Lurah-Pamong across DIY, commemorating the 80th birthday of the King of the Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat, Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, has been successfully completed. The gifts brought by each kalurahan for the Sultan were returned to the community.

Processions from each kalurahan took turns to pay respects to the Sultan in the Kagungan Dalem Pagelaran of the Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat on Thursday (2/4/2026).

It began with the procession from the City of Jogja, bringing gifts or Gelondong Pangarem-arem in the form of UMKM products. Then, the procession from Sleman Regency brought agricultural produce such as fruits and vegetables.

Meanwhile, Bantul Regency brought agricultural products like onions to rice. Kulon Progo Regency also brought agricultural produce. Finally, from Gunungkidul Regency, which brought agricultural products and UMKM crafts.

After the procession concluded, the ceremony continued with the symbolic handover of the gelondong pangarem-arem by the Sultan to the community. The handover was represented by the Sultan’s five daughters to all Regents and Mayors.

GKR Mangkubumi to the Mayor of Jogja, GKR Candrakirana to the Regent of Sleman, GKR Maduretno to the Regent of Bantul, GKR Hayu to the Regent of Kulon Progo, and GKR Bendara to the Regent of Gunungkidul.

“The number of participants reported is 12,000. After all have been received, the gelondong pangarem-arem from all kalurahan will be distributed, where Ngarsa Dalem will share them through the Fathers and Mothers Regents,” said the General Chairman of the Paguyuban Lurah and Pamong Kalurahan Nayantaka DIY, Gandang Hardjanata.

“The gelondong pangarem-arem will be distributed to the community per regency to those in need. This is a form of mutual cooperation, which we must learn from Ngarsa Dalem,” he added.

After the event concluded, the Sultan expressed his gratitude to the entire community.

“Standing for more than three hours, right? I am thankful to friends for attending this opportunity, hopefully we are all healthy, that’s the important thing,” the Sultan hoped.

“(Gelondong Pangarem-arem) I return to the community, I hand them over symbolically to the Regents and Mayor with the hope that they can be distributed evenly to benefit the community,” the Sultan concluded.
