The Indonesian National Police (Polri) is preparing various humanitarian programmes in several regions to welcome the 80th Bhayangkara Anniversary on 1 July.

Irjen Pol. Agus Suryonugroho, Head of the Traffic Police Corps (Kakorlantas) and member of the anniversary committee, stated that these humanitarian programmes include house renovation projects, religious services, the distribution of agricultural tools and machinery, and the provision of clean water for communities in need. “There will be house renovations, religious services, and the provision of water across Indonesia. Through this social assistance, Polri must remain close to the community,” Agus said in Jakarta on Monday.

One of the humanitarian programmes implemented this Monday involved the distribution of 500 aid packages to residents affected by a fire in Kemayoran Gempol, Kebon Kosong, Jakarta. The fire in the area occurred on Monday night.

Another flagship programme for the 80th Bhayangkara Anniversary is the house renovation project. This programme is planned to take place simultaneously across various regions in Indonesia, targeting dozens of homes for renovation. “There will be approximately 80 house renovation units across Indonesia. These will be implemented at the National Police Headquarters, Regional Police (Polda), and District Police (Polres) levels. We have planned this to be carried out at the Polda and Polres levels,” he added.

Through these humanitarian programmes, Polri hopes to further strengthen its relationship with the public and increase public trust in the police institution. “We hope that with the 80th Bhayangkara service, Polri will be increasingly loved by the community, remain close to the people, and certainly become more professional in performing future duties,” he said.

The distribution of humanitarian aid in Kemayoran was welcomed positively by the fire victims. It is recorded that 679 individuals from 354 households were affected, with 304 buildings impacted by the fire. The affected population includes 35 elderly persons, 90 toddlers, 53 primary school students, 60 junior high school students, 22 senior high school students, and 414 adults.
