806 new graduates from ITB

BANDUNG, West Java: The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) graduated 806 students, Antara reported on Saturday.

The students comprised of 249 postgraduates and 557 undergraduates. Twelve of the postgraduates graduated cum laude.

The rector of ITB, Lilik Hendrajaya, called on the new graduates to think of those less fortunate.

"Wherever you work, if one day you find smart, needy children, you must dare to help them by becoming their foster parents," Lilik said, referring to the term used for those who provide assistance to school age children.

Amid the economic crisis, which has made finding employment difficult, Lilik also urged the graduates to look for practical jobs, such as in agribusiness.

Postgraduates who graduated with the highest honors included those from the departments of oceanography, physics and mining. (edt)
