8,000 KPU computers held in port

JAKARTA: The General Elections Commission (KPU) admitted on Friday that more than 8,000 imported computers it intends to use for next year's election had been stuck at Tanjung Priok port in Jakarta for the last 10 days.

"We can do nothing because port workers are on Idul Fitri holidays," KPU member Chusnul Mar'iyah said.

The KPU, she said, did not anticipate the problem as port workers used to work a half-day during Idul Fitri holiday.

However, the KPU would try to provide the computers to subdistricts across the country on time, she said. --JP
