Jakarta, VIVA – The operators of the Cisumdawu Toll Road have implemented traffic engineering measures, including a contraflow system for four months, due to ground movement causing a crack at kilometre 207+300 in Sumedang Regency, West Java. The crack spans approximately 80 metres. The Director of PT Citra Karya Jabar Tol (CKJT), Agustinus Sudrajat, stated in Sumedang on Wednesday that the crack, reaching a depth of up to 2 metres, was caused by high-intensity rainfall. “We have identified this crack as resulting from high-intensity rainfall and the location in a hilly area,” he said, as quoted on Wednesday, 8 April 2026. He explained that they have ensured optimal drainage function, implemented temporary closures, and diverted traffic. Vehicles travelling from Bandung to Cirebon are being redirected to exit via the Paseh Toll Gate. For long-term handling, they will reinforce the structure using bore piles approximately 30 metres deep, with treatment extending 100 metres. Additionally, in coordination with the police, they will apply contraflow on Lane B towards Bandung from KM 206+125 to KM 208+200. “During the contraflow period, there are no vehicle restrictions; all vehicles can still pass,” he said. Meanwhile, the Traffic Engineering Unit Head for Cisumdawu Toll Road, Iptu Deny Ruchyat, stated that the traffic arrangement is estimated to last three to four months, depending on the on-site repair process. “At least the contraflow will be implemented for three to four months during the repair period. However, we will endeavour to complete it faster,” said Deny. He added that the contraflow implementation is scheduled to begin on Wednesday (8/6), once facilities and infrastructure are ready. Officers advise road users to remain cautious and reduce speed when passing through the affected section during the repair period. (Ant)
