Dozens of joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team personnel worked hard throughout Wednesday (10/6) to search for an eight-year-old boy named Bambang, who was reported missing after being swept away by the current whilst bathing with his friends on the banks of the Batang Tembesi River in Rengkiling Village, Mandiangin District, Sarolangun Regency, Jambi. The head of the Jambi SAR Office, Adah Sudarsa, stated that the unfortunate child was reported to have been swept away on Tuesday evening (9/6). At the time of the incident, the victim was bathing with three friends. The family, together with a number of residents around the scene, attempted to search into the night but were unable to find the victim. The incident was eventually reported to the Jambi Basarnas Office. The search by the joint SAR team, consisting of 27 personnel, was conducted effectively from Wednesday morning until Wednesday evening. Using several rubber boats, the team spread out to comb the left and right sides of the river, which is approximately 100 metres wide. However, by Wednesday evening, the team had not yet managed to find the victim. The search will be continued on Thursday morning.
