There are 203 cases, most of which were found at the Curug, Kelapa Dua, Kosambi, and Cikupa community health centres (Puskesmas), though other health centres have also reported findings, stated the Head of the Tangerang District Health Office, Hendra Tarmizi, on Wednesday (3/6/2026).

Of the 203 cases identified, the majority—167 cases—affect those in the productive age group. Additionally, 28 cases were found among adolescents, and eight cases involved toddlers.

Hendra noted that the most affected demographic is the productive age group, ranging from 21 to 55 years. Based on research, the primary causes of HIV spread among the productive and adolescent groups include needle sharing, unprotected intercourse, and deviant sexual behaviour.

“Meanwhile, the cases found in toddlers occurred because their parents are also HIV sufferers,” said Hendra Tarmizi.

Nevertheless, the Health Office has urged the public to always use protection and engage in sexual relations with legally recognised partners to reduce HIV rates in Tangerang Regency. He also advised that those infected must take their medication regularly to prevent the condition from progressing to AIDS.
