8 Percent Commission for Online Motorcycle Taxis Officially Takes Effect, Here's How Drivers Respond

A new revenue-sharing scheme for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers officially took effect on 1 July 2026. Under the policy, application companies will only charge an 8 percent commission, while driver partners will receive 92 percent of the trip fare for two-wheeled passenger transport services. A number of driver partners confirmed that the new scheme has been implemented and the details can be viewed directly through their respective applications. They welcomed the policy change, as it increases the portion of income they receive. One Gojek driver partner, Agus, said he was pleased with the implementation of the 8 percent commission scheme. He hopes the increase in income share will be accompanied by sustained order volumes. ‘Regarding the 8 percent commission that is now in effect, we drivers are very happy. We hope orders will continue to flow smoothly, keep coming in, and remain busy,’ Agus said on Thursday (2/7/2026). Based on the details Agus showed in the application, the partner’s income now reaches 92 percent of the trip fare, while the deduction for Gojek is 8 percent. Previously, the income share received by partners was recorded at 80 percent of the trip fare. Another driver partner, Andi, also confirmed that the 8 percent commission scheme has been in effect since 1 July 2026. According to him, the change has started to provide additional income, although it is not yet very significant. ‘For now, the fare has increased slightly because the deduction has become 8 percent,’ he said.
