8 Per Cent Cut in Ojol Revenue Share, GoTo Boss: Gojek to Implement President's Directive

PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) has confirmed that it will follow government directives on reducing the drivers’ revenue share for online motorcycle taxis (ojol) from 20 per cent to 8 per cent. The policy was announced by President Prabowo Subianto on May Day 1, 2026, and enacted in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 27 of 2026 on the Protection of Online Transportation Workers.

The scheme will see drivers receive 92 per cent of each Go-Ride trip. The company acknowledges that the change will reduce GoTo’s revenue from the GoRide service, but says the move is taken to create a healthier ecosystem for all parties.

“This is a fairly big change for us. GoTo’s revenue will fall. But we are doing this with full confidence that it is the right thing to do and as a long-term investment for a healthier and better future for all,” said Hans Patuwo, Chief Executive Officer of GoTo.

Alongside the change, prices for consumers using GoRide Reguler are not expected to rise. For GoRide Hemat, prices will be adjusted. “The majority of users currently use Go-Ride Reguler, so we will ensure there is no price change for this service,” he said. “In the future, Go-Ride Hemat will also follow an 8 per cent revenue share like Go-Ride Reguler. The impact for Go-Ride Hemat will be a price adjustment to consumers in a very limited manner.”

Under the policy, GoTo hopes orders remain sustainably steady so that total driver income can rise. GoTo is awaiting the publication of Perpres 27/2026 to receive further directions on the detailed provisions set by the government.

Hans said the implementation of the new revenue share will be carried out as soon as the decree is issued. “For the implementation we will do it as soon as possible, but we are also awaiting instructions and the preparations for the Perpres itself,” he said.
