8,095 Personnel Deployed to Secure State Address and Public Demonstrations

The Metro Jaya Regional Police have placed 8,095 joint personnel on standby to secure a number of public activities, including the series of events for the President’s State Address, taking place within the jurisdiction of DKI Jakarta on Friday. These public activities include events in the Senayan area, the RI Fest in Gambir, the National Scout Jamboree in East Jakarta, as well as several public expressions of opinion. “Specifically for security activities in the Senayan area, a force of 8,095 joint personnel has been deployed,” said Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, in Jakarta on Friday. He stated that the placement of personnel is adjusted to the characteristics of the activities, potential vulnerabilities, and security needs at each location. He added that the total number includes 800 personnel from the National Police Headquarters, 4,230 from Metro Jaya Police, 1,163 from resort police ranks, 1,850 from the Indonesian National Armed Forces, and 52 from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, including Public Order Agency officers, Transportation Agency officers, Health Agency officers, and firefighters. “Metro Jaya Police have prepared personnel to provide service and security. All personnel are directed to prioritise a persuasive and humanist approach so that public activities can proceed safely and orderly,” he said. Budi emphasised that security is implemented in layers, prioritising pre-emptive and preventive measures. Law enforcement will only be carried out if necessary according to the situation on the ground. All personnel on duty are also prohibited from carrying firearms. Meanwhile, traffic management and engineering schemes will be applied situationally depending on the dynamics of vehicle flow. Traffic diversions will only be decided if there is an increase in congestion to maintain the smooth mobility of citizens. “We urge members of the public who will be active around Senayan, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Palmerah, and the DPR/MPR RI complex to plan their travel time and follow the directions of officers if congestion increases,” said Budi.
