8,000 Runners Set to Enliven PLN Electric Run 2026
PT PLN (Persero) is set to stage the PLN Electric Run 2026, a running event promoting healthy living alongside the energy transition campaign. Carrying the theme “Powering Our Future” in its fourth edition, PLN has opened slots for 8,000 runners across the 5K, 10K and Half Marathon categories, to be held on 8 November 2026 at the ICE BSD area in Tangerang.
PLN Deputy Chief Executive Officer Yusuf Didi Setiarto said the annual running event is part of the company’s effort to invite all elements of society to take part in the national energy transition journey.
“The energy transition cannot be carried out by PLN alone. It requires collaboration from all parties, from government and business to communities and the wider public. That is why we present the PLN Electric Run as a space for collaboration, so that people can take part in the journey towards clean energy through a simple step — running together,” said Yusuf Didi, quoted on Saturday (25 July 2026).
Meanwhile, PLN Retail and Commerce Director M. Fahrur Rozy said the event represents the company’s consistency in campaigning for a low-emission lifestyle as part of its Net Zero Emissions (NZE) 2060 target.
For four consecutive years, Fahrur Rozy said, PLN has consistently invited the public to become part of the energy transition. According to him, the commitment to NZE by 2060 is realised not only through the development of clean energy infrastructure, but also through simple movements involving the public.
“Running makes us healthier while contributing to emission reductions. This is a tangible example of how sustainability can start from small steps taken together,” he said.
He explained that the positive impact of the annual running competition has continued to increase each year. The first edition contributed to an emissions reduction of 11,880 kilograms (kg) of CO₂, which rose to 14,363 kg CO₂ in the second year and 21,812 kg CO₂ in the third year.
“With a target of 8,000 participants this year, we estimate the emissions reduction contribution will reach around 24,780 kilograms of CO₂. However, the impact of the PLN Electric Run does not stop at its environmental aspect alone,” said Fahrur Rozy.
Furthermore, for this edition PLN is again collaborating with Rekosistem, the PLN Electric Run sustainable partner, in activation, waste sorting and waste processing from the launch through to after the event concludes, in order to deliver a measurable environmental impact.
PLN will also present social and environmental responsibility programmes, including the provision of electric vehicles to inspiring women, as well as various electric vehicle door prizes and household electrification in support of a green lifestyle.
PLN Icon Plus Chief Executive Officer Chipta Perdana said that to support the PLN Electric Run 2026, the company has prepared an increasingly easy registration mechanism through the PLN Mobile app.
“At the PLN Electric Run 2026 we are presenting an easier registration experience through various schemes, from Early Bird, Group Registration and General Sale to the Special Ticket programme via PLN Mobile,” said Chipta.
Through the “Special Ticket” programme on the PLN Mobile app, customers who purchase electricity tokens of at least Rp50,000 eight times between 1 and 26 July 2026 have the chance to obtain one free slot for the PLN Electric Run 2026, redeemable upon registration on 27 July 2026.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Athletics Association (PB PASI), Tigor Tanjung, applauded PLN’s consistency in presenting a running event that not only encourages healthy living but also carries a sustainability mission.
“What PLN is doing is extraordinary, because it not only invites people to run, but also invites them to be part of a greener future. We also appreciate PLN’s commitment to continually improving the quality of the event, even applying for the World Athletics Label. This shows that the PLN Electric Run is developing into an event that meets international standards,” said Tigor.
Echoing this, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Harian Kompas, Adi Prinantyo, as event organiser, said the PLN Electric Run has grown into a public communication platform integrating healthy living, environmental awareness and education on the energy transition.
“Running not only makes people healthier, but also becomes a symbol of contribution to emission reduction and the implementation of the energy transition. With the opening of the International Runners category and the application for the World Athletics Label, this year’s edition will bring a higher standard of competition,” said Adi.
