76 students designated as new pupils for Ponorogo's Sekolah Rakyat

A total of 76 students have been officially designated as new pupils for the primary, junior high, and senior high school levels at the Integrated Sekolah Rakyat (SR) in Ponorogo Regency, East Java, for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. The designation was marked by the handover of an official decree by Acting Regent of Ponorogo Lisdyarita to the students in Ponorogo, East Java, on Thursday. “These students will undergo education with a boarding system, which will temporarily be held in Madiun,” she said. Of the total designated pupils, 30 are at the senior high school level, 30 at the junior high school level, and 16 at the primary school level. According to her, while in the dormitory, students will receive guidance from teachers, foster guardians, and dormitory supervisors. “I hope parents need not worry about letting their children study at Sekolah Rakyat. While in the dormitory, they will receive full supervision so that the educational process and character building can proceed well,” she said. She stated that the Sekolah Rakyat Programme is one of the government’s efforts to provide educational access for children from underprivileged families. According to her, the programme must be utilised as an opportunity for students to obtain a proper education and build a better future. One student, Sabrina Septianasari, expressed gratitude for being accepted at Sekolah Rakyat. The pupil, who will be entering the 11th grade of senior high school, had previously worried she could not continue her education due to financial constraints. “I am very grateful to be accepted at Sekolah Rakyat. Previously, I thought I could not continue my schooling because of limited funds. Alhamdulillah, I now have this opportunity,” she said. Sabrina stated she is ready to undergo boarding school education even though it is temporarily located in Madiun. She hopes the programme will provide new experiences while training her independence. “Insyaallah, I am ready to live in the dormitory. I want to gain knowledge while learning to be a more independent person,” she said.
