76 Personnel Deployed to Extinguish Fire at Catering Warehouse in Ragunan
Jakarta (ANTARA) - A total of 76 personnel from the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-department (Sudin Gulkarmat) extinguished a fire at a cooking equipment and catering storage warehouse on Jalan Kebagusan Raya, RT 01/07, Ragunan Sub-district, Pasar Minggu District.
"We immediately deployed 17 fire engines with 76 personnel to the scene," said Head of South Jakarta Sudin Gulkarmat, Asril Rizal, in Jakarta on Monday.
He said his department received information about the fire, which had already grown considerably at the location, at 05.00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB). The blaze, which engulfed an area of approximately 200 square metres, was contained by 05.27 WIB, followed by a cooling process commencing at 05.46 WIB.
"The handling of the fire, which is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit, was declared complete at 06.35 WIB. There were no casualties in the incident," Asril stated.
Meanwhile, a local resident named Rayyan recounted that the fire was first spotted at the rear of the warehouse, already burning intensely. At that point, the main door of the warehouse was still locked. Upon seeing the flames, he and several other residents immediately attempted to force open the warehouse door before eventually contacting the Gulkarmat officers.
"The Gulkarmat officers arrived at the scene swiftly, preventing the fire from spreading to other buildings," Rayyan said.
