750 Police Officers Secure National Chinese New Year Celebration at Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta This Afternoon

The peak celebration of the Nusantara Chinese New Year 2026 will be held at Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta, this afternoon. The police will deploy 750 personnel to secure the event.

“For information, the peak celebration of the National Chinese New Year will indeed take place this afternoon around 3:00 PM at Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta,” said Head of Operations at the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Directorate, Kompol Robby Hefados, to journalists on Saturday (28 February 2026).

Robby stated that the 750 personnel comprise 150 traffic officers and 600 officers from territorial units. Security measures are being implemented to ensure the Chinese New Year celebration proceeds safely.

“We from the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Directorate have prepared security with approximately 150 traffic personnel deployed around the location and approximately 600 personnel from territorial units, ensuring this security operation is carried out as effectively as possible,” he said.

He stated that a procession by residents and National Chinese New Year participants will be conducted, commencing from in front of the Cathedral, proceeding towards the Adipura Monument, then turning right towards the Ministry building. He noted that road closures remain situational.

“Road closures are situational, and traffic flow closures will only be implemented during the procession sequences,” he said.
