75 Lights Illuminated, Singaraja's Ground Zero Shines Bright at Night
The Zero Point area of Singaraja, Buleleng, is brightly lit at night following the successful activation of 75 pavement lights in the area on Tuesday (23/06/2026).
The activation of these lights marks the beginning of the trial lighting phase for the Singaraja Zero Point area. The installation of the streetlights has immediately transformed the nighttime appearance of Singaraja’s city centre, a development long awaited by the local community.
However, the redevelopment of Singaraja Zero Point is not yet complete, having currently reached 90% completion. The project is targeted for completion and official inauguration on 29 July 2026. This revitalisation is intended to serve as a new iconic public space in Buleleng.
“This is still in the refinement stage. It will later be equipped with park benches and Tabebuya trees to ensure the area is more comfortable and shaded for the public,” said the Regent of Buleleng, I Nyoman Sutjidra.
Beyond beautifying the area, the Buleleng Regency Government is also preparing several security measures. These steps are being taken to address community concerns regarding vandalism and security disturbances in the area.
According to Sutjidra, the Singaraja Zero Point area will be equipped with closed-circuit television (CCTV) and integrated supervision alongside the pecalang (traditional security officers) from Banjar Paketan and Banjar Tegal, Buleleng Custom Village.
The Buleleng Regency Government is also anticipating the potential for illegal street racing and speeding vehicles around the area. Speed control facilities, or speed traps, will be installed at several strategic points on the northern, eastern, and western sides of the Singaraja Zero Point area.
For visitors, the Buleleng Regency Government has prepared three official parking zones. These are located at the Buleleng Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) office area, the Laksmi Graha Building, and the parking area of the Buleleng Regent’s Office.
Sutjidra ensured that the redevelopment does not stop at Singaraja Zero Point. “Next year, we will expand the redevelopment massively, ranging from the Puri area and Buleleng Market to Setra Buleleng. The northern side near the City Park will also undergo total redevelopment,” Sutjidra asserted.
The Buleleng Regency Government invites the community to help maintain the cleanliness, security, and available facilities so that the Singaraja Zero Point area can truly become a comfortable public space and a new source of pride for the residents.
