75 Lights Illuminated, Singaraja's Ground Zero Shines Bright at Night
The Ground Zero area of Singaraja City, Buleleng, is now brightly lit at night after 75 pavement lights in the vicinity were successfully switched on Tuesday (23/6/2026). The illumination marks the commencement of a lighting trial for the Singaraja City Ground Zero area. The activation of the pavement lights immediately transformed the night-time appearance of central Singaraja, something long awaited by the public. However, the arrangement of the Singaraja City Ground Zero is not yet finished, having only reached 90% completion. The works are targeted for completion and inauguration on 29 July 2026. This revitalisation is being touted as a new public space icon in Buleleng. “This is still the refinement stage. Later it will be equipped with garden benches and tabebuya trees to make the area more comfortable and shaded for the community,” said Buleleng Regent I Nyoman Sutjidra. Beyond beautifying the area, the Buleleng Regency Government has also prepared a number of security measures. These steps are being taken to address public concerns regarding vandalism and security disturbances in the area. According to Sutjidra, the Singaraja City Ground Zero area will be equipped with closed-circuit television (CCTV) and integrated surveillance together with pecalang from Banjar Paketan and Banjar Tegal, Buleleng Traditional Village. The Buleleng Regency Government is also anticipating the potential for illegal street racing and speeding vehicles around the area. Speed control facilities, or speed traps, will be installed at several strategic points on the north, east, and west sides of the Singaraja City Ground Zero area. For visitors, the Buleleng Regency Government has prepared three official parking pockets. Their locations are in the area of the Buleleng Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) office, the Laksmi Graha Building, and the parking area of the Buleleng Regent’s Office. Sutjidra confirmed that the arrangement will not stop at Singaraja City Ground Zero. “Next year we will massively expand the arrangement, starting from the Puri area, Buleleng Market, to Setra Buleleng. The north side near Taman Kota will also be completely rearranged,” Sutjidra asserted. The Buleleng Regency Government invites the public to jointly maintain the cleanliness, security, and available facilities so that the Singaraja City Ground Zero area truly becomes a comfortable public space as well as a new source of pride for residents.
