75,000 People Apply to Become Hajj Officials

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) noted that as of Wednesday, 75,000 people have registered to become Hajj Organising Officers (PPIH). Meanwhile, the number of officers to be accepted through the selection process remains below one thousand.

Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umroll, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, speaking in Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday (2/9/2026), stated that the high level of interest is due to several changes implemented in this year’s recruitment process.

One such change involves a partnership with the National Civil Service Agency (BKN), meaning selection participants no longer need to travel to Jakarta to undergo testing. He noted that this change is part of an effort to make the recruitment process more effective and accessible to the public.

“There have been drastic changes in the recruitment process. Previously, tests had to be conducted in Jakarta; this year, everything can be done in one’s respective region, through cooperation with the BKN,” said Dahnil after attending the Tanwir of the Muhammadiyah Student Association at the Banten Hajj Dormitory in Cipondoh, Tangerang City, on Wednesday (2/9/2026).

Dahnil revealed that from the 75,000 applicants, candidates will be screened through various selection stages, including a Computer Assisted Test (CAT). Once the process is complete, the results will be announced by the relevant authorities.

“The CAT test is being conducted today, and the results will be announced subsequently,” Dahnil added.

With the number of applicants far exceeding the available quota, the selection process is expected to produce Hajj officials who possess the necessary competence to provide optimal service to pilgrims.
