74 Escalators Installed in Mina to Facilitate Hajj Pilgrims
The Kidana Development Company, a subsidiary of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites, has completed the installation of escalators at several important locations in Mina. This is part of the preparations for the 2026 Hajj season.
This step aims to facilitate the movement of pilgrims while increasing comfort and safety. The work was carried out in three phases: 32 escalators were installed during the 2024 Hajj season, another 32 in 2025, and an additional 10 escalators this season at eight new locations. Thus, the total reaches 74 escalators.
The project aims to improve infrastructure and the quality of services in the sacred area, facilitating pilgrim mobility and reducing physical strain. This is particularly beneficial for the elderly and those with certain health conditions.
In addition, the project helps to shorten travel time between tent areas and service facilities, improve movement efficiency, and reduce density on pathways and traditional stairs.
