735 SPPG in Central Java Still Lack SLHS Certification

A total of 735 nutritional service units (SPPG) in Central Java Province had not obtained a hygiene and sanitation eligibility certificate (SLHS) as of 10 August 2026. Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Sudaryono had previously stated that SPPG without an SLHS would be closed by the 10 August 2026 deadline.

Head of the Central Java Health Office (Dinkes), Zulfachmi Wahab, disclosed that as of 10 August 2026, the number of SPPG in Central Java had reached 4,635. Of these, 3,900 already held an SLHS, while the remaining 735 had yet to obtain the certificate.

“As for the authority over whether they can operate or not, that is the domain of the regional BGN,” said Zulfachmi when asked about the continued operation of SPPG that have not obtained an SLHS, on Saturday (15/8/2026).

Zulfachmi explained that there are four requirements that SPPG must fulfil to obtain an SLHS. These are: an environmental health inspection (IKL) result meeting a minimum score of 80, food handlers certified in ready-to-eat food safety training (according to the percentage of TPP types), the person in charge/manager/owner certified in ready-to-eat food safety training, and laboratory results meeting requirements with negative results for E. coli, borax, formalin, rhodamine B, and methanil yellow.

According to Zulfachmi, the SLHS application process does not take too long. “If all requirements are met, it takes no more than two weeks,” he said.

He added that the Central Java Health Office has also provided a number of recommendations to BGN regarding SPPG operations and improvements to the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. In addition to SLHS ownership, other recommendations relate to water and food quality.
