721 security personnel deployed to secure Jakarta departure stations during Eid exodus
Jakarta — PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Operations 1 Jakarta has deployed 721 security personnel at departure stations and other strategic points to support security and order during the 2026 Eid transport season.
The Regional Operations 1 Jakarta public relations manager, Franoto Wibowo, stated that the security personnel comprise 150 railway police (Polsuska), 456 security officers, and 115 personnel from the Military and National Police.
“The security personnel are stationed at stations and strategic points throughout the Regional Operations 1 Jakarta area,” said Franoto in Jakarta on Friday.
He noted that at H-8 (eight days before) Eid 1447 H/2026, KAI Regional Operations 1 Jakarta opened the 2026 Eid Transport Command Centre, which operates from 13 March to 1 April 2026.
The command centre aims to ensure smooth railway operations, enhance safety, and provide optimal service to the public during the Eid exodus and return travel period.
On the first day of the command centre’s opening, long-distance railway passenger volume departing from the Regional Operations 1 Jakarta area reached 45,382 passengers, whilst 22,092 passengers arrived at various stations in the Regional Operations 1 Jakarta area.
“This figure shows an upward trend compared to the two preceding days, with 29,824 passengers departing on 11 March and 40,178 passengers departing on 12 March 2026,” Franoto said.
During the Eid transport season, KAI Regional Operations 1 Jakarta operates 68 regular long-distance train journeys per day, plus 12 additional trains from Gambir Station, 7 additional trains from Pasar Senen Station, and 4 free motor train services.
