72-year-old escapes python attack
KUALA LUMPUR (AP): An elderly woman narrowly escaped a python that attacked her through a hole in her bathroom in a northeastern Malaysian state, the national news agency Bernama reported on Sunday.
The snake snared one of Ngah Hitam's feet with its jaws late Saturday and tried to drag her down the hole. But the 72-year-old grandmother would not fit through the hole, so the python eventually gave up and released her.
Ngah suffered a huge bite on her foot and was recovering in a hospital in northeastern Terengganu state.
Ngah's granddaughter, Aishah Ibrahim, said this was the second time a python had attacked their home. In December, a python tried to seize the family's cat, but fled after it was spotted by some people in the house.
