72 Carrefour staff get food poisoning

SURABAYA: Seventy-two Surabaya-based employees of hypermarket operator Carrefour were admitted to hospitals on Monday with food poisoning. After medical treatment, nine stayed at the hospitals while the remainder were allowed to go home.

First. Insp. Thoyib, an officer at Karangpilang police subprecinct, said that the employees complained of headaches and vomiting after they had eaten mushroom soup served by a catering company hired by Carrefour.

Agus Sudarmoko, from Carrefour's personnel department, said that the company would pay for the hospitalization. -- JP
