71,000 Litres of Water Distributed to Drought-Affected Residents in West Bandung

A total of 71,000 litres of clean water has been distributed to residents affected by the dry season in West Bandung Regency. The aid reached 1,395 families across four sub-districts and seven villages, including Tanimulya and Cilame in Ngamprah, Giriasih and Selacau in Batujajar, Cipada in Cikalongwetan, and Gunungmasigit and Citatah in Cipatat. Distribution was carried out using 5,000-litre capacity tankers.

Plt Head of the West Bandung Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Duddy Prabowo, stated on Tuesday (28/7) that the 71,000 litres had been distributed to drought-affected residents from 10 to 26 July 2026. The BPBD has declared a Drought and Forest and Land Fire Emergency Alert Status, effective from 1 July to 30 September 2026, as a measure of government preparedness to address risks during the dry season.

Duddy explained that mapping of drought-prone areas is based on incidents from recent dry seasons, with the data used to determine handling priorities. In the previous dry season, eight sub-districts experienced drought, while in 2024, seven sub-districts were affected. To anticipate community water needs, the BPBD has readied 20 personnel and three water tanker trucks for immediate deployment upon request from villages or sub-districts. The agency is also continuously monitoring weather conditions and water source availability to ensure rapid distribution when shortages occur. Residents have been urged not to burn rubbish or dry land, as fire can spread easily, and to conserve water according to need.
