707 Homebound Travellers Transported by Naval Vessel Arrive in Semarang
Semarang — A total of 707 homebound travellers along with 261 motorcycles transported using KRI Banda Aceh from Jakarta arrived at Tanjung Emas Port in Semarang, Central Java, on Wednesday.
The Commander of Semarang Naval Base (Danlanal) Colonel Sabprowanto stated that the travellers arriving in Semarang were part of 1,447 passengers transported by the naval vessel from Jakarta. The remaining homebound travellers will continue their journey aboard KRI Banda Aceh bound for Surabaya.
According to him, the free homecoming programme using the naval vessel has been highly beneficial for both motorised and non-motorised travellers. “For homebound travellers not bringing vehicles, we also provide additional facilities,” he said.
The Indonesian Navy, he said, provides buses to transport travellers without motorcycles if they need to travel to stations or terminals to continue their journey.
Meanwhile, Semarang City Acting Secretary Budi Prakoso stated that homecoming travel by naval vessel represents a form of synergy amongst various elements in serving the community. He expressed hope that this facilitated service will ease the journey for homebound travellers returning to their hometowns. He added that most of the naval vessel’s homebound travellers will continue their journeys to various areas within Semarang City and even to Solo.
The naval vessel homecoming service will resume during the return journey on 25 March 2026 from Semarang to Jakarta.
