706 Joint Personnel Deployed to Secure Demonstration in Central Jakarta, Traffic Engineering to Be Situational
A total of 706 joint personnel have been deployed to secure a number of demonstrations taking place in the Central Jakarta area on Monday. Officers are stationed at various points that serve as locations for expressing aspirations by students and members of the public. The hundreds of personnel come from the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police, and sector police levels. Security measures are being implemented to ensure that public expression activities proceed safely, orderly, and conducively. The Head of Public Relations for the Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Iptu Erlyn Sumantri, stated that one of the secured actions originates from the Executive Board of State Islamic Religious University Students from across Indonesia, along with several other mass elements. The action is scheduled to take place in the Gambir area starting at 15:00 WIB. Security is also being focused on a demonstration by the Young Indonesian Activists Network and other mass elements, scheduled to be held in front of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) office at 11:00 WIB. With multiple demonstrations occurring in one day, officers have prepared security patterns at each location to ensure public activities can continue. The presence of joint personnel in the field is expected to anticipate potential security disturbances while escorting the actions to ensure they proceed orderly according to applicable regulations. Security is being carried out in an integrated manner involving police units from various divisions. Personnel are placed at locations that are the centres of demonstration activities to monitor the situation and regulate vehicle flow if necessary. In addition to preparing security for the demonstrations, the police are also anticipating the impact of the actions on traffic flow around the locations. Officers will implement situational traffic engineering by considering conditions on the ground, especially the number of masses attending the demonstrations.
