Lubuk Basung (ANTARA) – The Department of Public Housing and Settlement Areas (Perkim) of Agam Regency, West Sumatra, has recorded that 704 disaster-affected households are willing to relocate collectively to sites provided. ‘They are willing to relocate collectively,’ said Rinaldi, head of Perkim Agam, in Lubuk Basung on Sunday. He noted that the 704 households are spread across Tanjung Raya District (291 households), Matur (24), Ampek Koto (2); followed by Palupuh (1), Malalak (5), and Palembang (381). ‘They are willing to relocate after their homes were damaged by flood and landslides that struck the area and were located in red zones and elsewhere,’ he said. The sites have a combined capacity of 325 buildings and can accommodate collective relocations from Malalak, Ampek Koto, Matur and Tanjung Raya. Then at Padang Tarok, Nagari Salareh Aia Utara, Palembayan District, one hectare with a capacity of 75 units. After that Balai Benih Ikan Gumarang, Nagari Koto Silungkang, Palembayan District, with an area of 1.1 hectares to house 60 housing units. For residents of Palembang, he added, about four hectares of land are needed, but only 2.1 hectares are currently available. Therefore, the land shortfall would be bought or acquired, and the land is already available pending inspection. ‘Residents of Palembayan who wish to relocate asked for relocation within that district, so the land being sought will be in Palembayan,’ he said.
