700 Personnel Deployed to Secure Demonstrations in Central Jakarta

A total of 700 joint police personnel from Polda Metro Jaya, Polres Metro Central Jakarta, and sector police stations have been deployed to secure two demonstrations in the Central Jakarta area today, Monday. The first protest is being held by the Kalimantan Youth Alliance and several mass elements in the Gambir area. ‘Security for the demonstration by the Kalimantan Youth Alliance and several mass elements in the Gambir area is scheduled for 11.00 WIB,’ said Erlyn in a written statement on Monday. The second demonstration will be held by student elements belonging to the Indonesian Student and Youth Movement in the area of the DPR/MPR Building, Senayan, Central Jakarta. ‘The action by the management of the Indonesian Student and Youth Movement in front of the DPR/MPR RI Building at 11.00 WIB,’ said Erlyn. Traffic engineering at both demonstration points will be implemented situationally, taking into account the number of masses in the field. Meanwhile, the public is advised to avoid the areas around the demonstration locations to anticipate traffic congestion.
