700 Joint Personnel Secure Protests in Gambir and DPR RI Today

A total of 700 joint personnel from the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Central Jakarta Metro Resort Police, and sector police stations have been placed on standby to oversee two protest actions taking place in the Central Jakarta area today, Monday (6/7).

Central Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Head, First Police Inspector Erlyn Sumantri, confirmed that security is focused on two main locations. The first action is being held by the Kalimantan Youth Alliance along with several other mass elements in the Gambir area.

“Security for the protest by the Kalimantan Youth Alliance and several mass elements in the Gambir area, with the activity planned for 11.00 WIB,” Erlyn said in a written statement on Monday.

In addition to Gambir, a second protest is being carried out by students under the Indonesian Student and Youth Movement. The crowd is concentrated in front of the DPR/MPR RI Building in Senayan, Central Jakarta, which is also scheduled to begin at 11.00 WIB.

Regarding traffic flow, the police have prepared an engineering scheme around the protest sites. However, the implementation of traffic diversions will be situational, depending on the development of the crowd size and conditions on the ground.

Personnel continue to be stationed at strategic points to ensure the expression of aspirations proceeds safely and in an orderly manner.
