700,000 Tourists Expected to Visit Bandung During Lebaran 2026
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan has projected that approximately 700,000 tourists will visit Bandung during the Lebaran 2026 holiday break. Farhan stated that this figure will not reach the levels experienced during New Year holidays, as Lebaran-period traffic is dispersed across various homecoming routes.
“During New Year celebrations, there is typically no significant exodus from the city, so almost everyone holidays in Bandung. During Lebaran, the traffic is split across the north coast route, Garut, Tasikmalaya, and Central Java,” said Farhan in Bandung on Monday, 2 March 2026.
According to his assessment based on evaluations from previous years, the number of people entering Bandung during the Idul Fitri holiday is estimated to reach between 600,000 and 700,000 individuals.
“Bandung is both a tourist destination and a transit city. Anyone travelling to Ciwidey or Lembang must pass through central Bandung. This means traffic congestion and public mobility will be extremely high,” he explained.
Farhan identified several locations expected to experience congestion, including central Bandung, the Ciwidey tourism area, and Lembang.
“Therefore, cross-sector coordination is considered crucial, particularly in managing traffic flow and ensuring security in strategic areas,” he said.
According to Farhan, his administration will coordinate with the Bandung Metropolitan Police to identify congestion-prone points and potential security and public order risks.
