Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan has revealed that between 600,000 and 700,000 tourists are predicted to visit Bandung City during the Eid holiday period in 1447 Hijri (2026). Traffic congestion from both motorcycles and four-wheeled vehicles is anticipated to increase significantly during this period.

“The directive from the Police Chief has been very clear that Bandung City is identified as one of the tourist destinations with very high visitor numbers during the Eid holiday,” he stated at the Bandung Metro Police Headquarters on Monday, 2 March 2026.

Tourists heading to popular destinations such as Lembang, West Bandung District, and Ciwidey, Bandung District, must pass through central Bandung City. Farhan noted that Bandung City serves as both a tourist destination and a transit hub during the Eid holiday period.

“We are ready on standby. I have also coordinated with the Acting Metro Police Chief. We will monitor several identified high-risk points,” he said.

He predicted that tourist arrivals to Bandung City during the Eid holiday would reach between 600,000 and 700,000 people. However, he noted that visitor numbers remain higher during the New Year period.

“During Eid, traffic will disperse to various homebound destinations such as the north coast route, Garut, Tasikmalaya, and even Central Java. The estimated number of visitors is approximately 600,000–700,000 people, similar to last year,” he explained.

Farhan added that the city is organising free homebound transport for Bandung residents travelling to several areas in West Java Province. He stated that budget requirements are still being calculated.

“Free homebound transport will be available, God willing. We are currently arranging approximately 15–20 buses, though the budget is still being calculated. The destinations are throughout West Java. For Central Java, I cannot yet confirm because separate permits must be obtained,” he concluded.
