70 Poso families join transmigration

MANADO, North Sulawesi: The North Sulawesi Manpower and Transmigration office said on Saturday that 70 families staying in safe areas outside restive Poso, Central Sulawesi, would not return home but join a resettlement program to start a new life in another province.

Henny Kondoy, the head of the office, said that refugees staying with their relatives or renting cheap homes in North Sulawesi had registered in the resettlement program to move to another province.

She said that her office would consult with regional administrations in the province and other provinces on their placement so that their new residences would not cause any problems. --Antara
