70 Families Affected by Disaster in Dolok Nauli Receive Permanent Housing Keys
Seventy heads of households in Dolok Nauli Village, Adian Koting District, North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra, received the keys to their permanent housing (huntap) on Monday (8/6). The handover of these homes is part of the recovery efforts following the disaster that struck the region in September 2025.
A total of 70 housing units were handed over in the first phase of a larger 103-unit project, which was constructed through a collaboration between the Maruarar Sirait family and the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation North Sumatra. The Chairman of the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation North Sumatra, Mujianto, stated that the construction of all units was supported by donations from the Maruarar Sirait family, while the foundation acted as the technical executor, mentor, and construction supervisor.
“In this initial stage, 70 families have received their house keys along with the available facilities within the dwellings. This is a tangible form of care and mutual cooperation (gotong royong) to assist our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster,” said Mujianto.
He added that the assistance provided includes not only the houses but also household equipment to ensure residents can immediately occupy their new homes. Each beneficiary family received a living room sofa set and a dining table set.
Mujianto noted that the support from the Maruarar Sirait family demonstrates a strong humanitarian spirit in helping the community recover from the aftermath of the disaster.
The handover ceremony took place in Dolok Nauli Village and was attended by several regional officials, including the Regent’s Expert Staff, the Head of the Housing and Settlement Department, the Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Head of Development, the Adian Koting District Head, the Head of Dolok Nauli Village, officials from the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation North Sumatra, and the beneficiaries.
The Deputy Regent of North Tapanuli, Deni Parlindungan Lumbantoruan, expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in the construction of the permanent housing. He stated that the aid provides more than just new accommodation; it restores a sense of security and hope for the disaster-affected community.
“The construction of this permanent housing serves as proof that social concern and the spirit of mutual cooperation remain very strong. On behalf of the North Tapanuli Regency Government, we express our gratitude to the Maruarar Sirait family and the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation for showing extraordinary attention to the affected community,” said Deni.
The construction of the 103 permanent housing units in Dolok Nauli is expected to accelerate the recovery of the residents’ lives following the disaster. The programme serves as an example of collaboration between philanthropists, social institutions, and the government in assisting communities that have lost their homes due to natural disasters.
